The new Relaxbirth method is good news for everyone. It has been praised by mothers of newborn children, midwives and doctors.
The Relaxbirth method is based on the Relaxbirth birthing support device and its guided use. Mothers can relax their bodies during the first stage of labour and gather their strength for the second stage. The use of Relaxbirth enables mothers to choose different delivery positions according to their needs.
Developed in Finland, the Relaxbirth method has benefited from the skills and know-how of a wide cross-section of specialists from the healthcare sector. The method is based on decades of midwifery and practical experience as well as psychological, ergonomic and physiological expertise and skills.
The result is an easier, active, more relaxing and empowering birthing experience. Relaxbirth is suitable for both mothers of first-borns and mothers who have already delivered. Trained nurse (SRN) and midwife Eija Pessinen, the “mother” of the Relaxbirth method, was awarded the European Woman Inventor and Innovator of the Year award in 2009. (EUWIIN)
Finnish Institute of Occupational Health studied the Relaxbirth method in 2010. The research showed that mothers preferred to give birth either sitting on the Relaxbirth birthing support or lying on their side in the bed using Relaxbirth, rather than using conventional childbirth methods.
